Performance
Improvement through Benchmarking...
Benchmarking: The
key to improved performance & best practice within your business.
Independent,
objective and consumer focused proposition performance testing, benchmarking and
consumer user trials are beneficial in your proposition development, proposition
sourcing and proposition placing decisions. They will let you know if the
proposition is fit for its purpose, easy to use and fulfils a 'consumer need',
which will help to increase sales, improve brand awareness and increase customer
loyalty.
Maximise
your profitability
Propositions that fall short of customer expectation lead to undesired after
sales costs such as warranty claims, returns, unsold, unwanted propositions,
and, possibly recalls and corrective actions. In short, performance testing,
benchmarking and user trials will help you avoid all that and thus maximising
your profitability.
Performance
Testing
Performance Testing evaluates the proposition from the user’s point of view.
It answers the following basic questions: ‘Does the proposition function as it
should’? and ‘Are all the features beneficial to the user’?
Benchmarking
Through benchmarking, you will find out how your proposition compares with its
competitors. It helps you to quantify where your proposition excels, which can
be used in marketing messages and point of sales literature.
User
Trials
User trials will assist you in finding out how your proposition performs and how
users view this performance. The feedback is useful - it will help you to make
sure that it is a functional and appealing proposition. User trials can also
help you to understand why the proposition does not sell well as you had hoped.
Ergonomics
Ergonomics considers the likely users of a proposition and their
capabilities and limitations, and assess how easy a proposition is
likely to be to use.
Factors
such as the proposition dimensions, the force needed to operate it, the
controls and their labelling, the weight and how easy it is to use will
all be taken into account. The instruction manual will also be
considered.
Ergonomic
assessments can be very useful when developing a new proposition and
could prevent high numbers of returns because people are confused as to
how to use the proposition.
Why
Benchmarking?
Benchmarking
is a process of learning
industry best practices that will lead you to superior performance.
Benchmarking
is used by many businesses to achieve the highest levels of performance ,
establish the best
processes and
increase competitiveness in
order to enjoy higher profits
“Benchmarking
is the practice of being humble enough to admit that someone else is
better at something, and wise enough to try and learn how to match and
even surpass them at it”
Benchmarking

performance is accomplished. The process of benchmarking continually
questions “ how are others achieving best
